It is eyelid surgery and it not a necessity. It is only a cosmetic procedure. Upper and lower eyelids become droopy as a person ages. Fat pockets become very pronounced, muscles weaken and eyelid skin stretches giving an aged look to a person. It can give a tired and haggard look to a person.

It can be performed at both the eyelids or upper eyelid or lower eyelid depending on what a person is looking for.

Incisions are made in the upper and lower eyelid without leaving any visible scars. Incisions are made in the natural folds of the lower/upper eyelids making them invisible once they heal completely. Surgeon makes precise markings to make incisions from where the excess skin and fat has to be removed. Some other muscles may be removed as per the requirement.

Tissues are removed using surgical instruments such as scalpels and scissors. Sutures or tissue adhesives/glue are then applied to smoothen the area around brows and lids. It is the surgeon’s call during the surgery to decide how much fat and tissues need removal for the best appearance. For patients with dry eyes, less tissue is removed to avoid worsening the situation. It can be combined with brow lift surgery.
